HEART AND SOLE
Here's a photo of Erin's fabulous array of shoes.
Twenty-five pairs represented, you'll notice, by the right shoe only (Erin always puts her best foot forward). It's a much more extensive and colorful collection than mine. I wish I had some red shoes. I must say, though, that I have known Erin for five or so years and I can't recall seeing her in many of these. The riding boots I believe she accessorized with a skirt rather than a horse. I'm guessing it was the blistering black shoes in the middle row on the far right that pissed her off. I trust others will notice the big brown lesbian boots in the back row (hehe — classic case of the pot calling the kettle butch).
And here is a picture I drew of one of my favorite shoes. I am trying to teach myself to draw, and I find that I am best at shoes and chairs, although I cannot draw them with people wearing or sitting in them. If anyone else wants to submit shoe art of any kind, please do. Rick, I'd like to see your rock-climbing shoes. Sharon, don't you have some shit-kickers? Christy, the slut pumps? Ben, the pancake holders? Amy, I know you have an enviable collection. Let's see 'em.

Does everyone have a pair of big lesbian shoes but me? I'll have to work on that.
Oh, and those riding boot rock, Erin!
Actually, the blister-inducing shoes I mentioned earlier are the little ones with the white bow (middle row, fourth from left). The high black ones you pointed out are among the most comfortable shoes I have.
You're right that I don't wear all of these. Those hideous blue ones on the left end of the middle row haven't been worn in six years. I keep them because they match a dress that I also haven't worn in six years. Those taupe ones on the back row have never been worn. My grandma (the shoe fetishist) gave them to me because they didn't fit her. Unfortunately, they are grandma shoes.
Thanks, George. I kick ass in those boots. The first time I wore them to my current job, my boss said, "Ooh, boots today."
Yes, George, apparently everyone but you has big lesbian shoes. But don't worry; you have those nice fairy booties.
Oh, I don't know what a mule is. Those white shoes are mules? What are mules, then?
Mules are backless. Like this. Only mine are white.
So my Birkenstocks are mules?
Fairy booties? Do you mean my nursing shoes, or the hospotal booties I plan on procuring? They're more like foot condoms for all these people with foot fetishes.
I meant your hospital booties. Although, I also think of your brown shoes as your fairy snow boots.
And, G, don't you have a pair of mules kicking around?
Nope -- I'm like Erin in that I don't like sandals on guys. But maybe I'll get some of those Birkenstock clogs you showed me at some point.
Yeah, Birks are mules. Open-toe versions are sometimes called slides, which is a subset of mules. Fascinating, right?
Drooling. I am drooling over Erin's shoes. So beautiful! Yet so practical. You wear an 8, right? I am going to sneak into your house some night and steal them away. Especially the riding boots.
A better strategy might be for you to post a picture on your own blog every time you get a new pair, with a link for online shopping. Then I'll just buy whatever you buy, because you have fabulous taste.
I'm such a loser. I don't have a digital camera, so I can't send you my shoe collection. (Well, photos, anyway. I could, in fact, send you my shoe collection, but winter is coming on soon, and my feet would get cold.)
But I'm also a word person, so how's about a mental picture? I have 15-20 pair, and yes, I have some big lesbian shoes. I have three pair of tennis shoes: casual ones that I wear most Fridays and weekends, an old pair that I wear if there's a likelihood of getting them dirty, and a pair that I only wear in races. I have two pair of hiking boots, two pair of Tevas, and 10-12 pair of "dress" shoes, mostly low pumps because I'm a dyke and tend to fall off high heels.
Sharon, no Birkenstocks? Hehe (Tevas are close, I guess)
Nope, no birks. Mostly because I, like Ben, have very narrow feet (I'm also a AAA, but, as Ben points out, that's less stunning for a woman than for a man.),and I find that Birks are too wide for me. Most shoes are.
Erin,
Those riding-style boots are striking! I hope you put them on when there's some ass-kicking to do around the house.
I also heart the red Mary Janes.
Thanks, cl. I got the red ones at Wal-Mart, if you can believe it.
KC - I like your shoe. It tooks me a couple of years to get good at this so I will share some insights with you. Here is the deal with drawing realistically. It is all about light, just like photography. Ditch the outlines and just draw the values. Start with three values - light, middle and dark, then get subtler and subtler. Then add lines back in for style or animation (gesture).
If I get all of my shoes out, Karen might make me throw some away. But I'll try it - and then maybe I'll even want to part with some. I'll get back to you ...
Yes, Amy! Let's see them.
